The single biggest in-person risk on a peer marketplace is the pickup itself. Treat it like meeting any stranger.
Recommended
- Meet during daylight whenever possible.
- Meet in public places â a farmers-market parking lot, library, coffee shop, or police-station meet-up bay.
- Bring a friend.
- Tell someone where you're going, who you're meeting, and when.
- Confirm the other person's profile name and avatar before approaching.
If meeting at a home
- Don't enter a stranger's home. Make the exchange at the door or in the driveway.
- Don't accept rides.
- Trust your gut. If something feels wrong, leave.
Children
Don't bring small children to first-time pickups with someone you haven't transacted with before.
Cash + payment
If paying in cash, bring exact change. Don't display large amounts. Confirm the item before paying.
