Driver FAQ
Clear answers help volunteers make safe decisions.
What does claiming a pickup commit me to?
Showing up at the pickup time, transporting the donation to the requester's address, and confirming completion once delivered. The org you're helping gets your name and contact (via in-app messaging) so you can coordinate.
Do I get reimbursed for gas or mileage?
Volunteer pickups are unpaid by design β the model is neighbors helping neighbors. Some receiving orgs may offer a thank-you (a meal, a gift card, a tax receipt for mileage). Always coordinate in-app before assuming.
What if the donation is too heavy or doesn't fit my car?
Message the requester before you commit. Pickup posts should include weight or quantity in the notes β if they don't, ask. You can cancel a claim if conditions don't match what was posted; please cancel quickly so someone else can claim it.
What's the difference between "No-show" and "Cancel"?
Cancel is for plans changing in advance ("the donor backed out", "I can't make it Friday"). No-show is for after-the-fact reporting β the other party didn't appear and didn't communicate. Repeated no-shows flag an account for admin review.
How do I become a Pickup Partner instead of a casual driver?
Pickup Partner is a paid B2B tier ($49/mo) for verified pickup-location operators β community gardens, co-ops, or neighborhood hubs that want to be designated drop-off points. Email partnerships for details.
